1. The cat will live in a safe and sanitary private residence as a companion animal (unless otherwise agreed upon) and
will be provided with fresh food and water daily, as well as its own clean litter box.
2. I will never strike or harm the cat in any way, nor allow anyone else to do so.
3. I will not have the cat declawed. I will not allow anyone else to have him or her declawed. I understand that doing
so may result in legal action being taken.
4. I will provide future vaccinations and also veterinary care upon disease or injury . I will take him or her to the vet for
checkups as recommended by my veterinarian (usually every year). I will do whatever it takes to keep my cat living a
good quality of life. I will not euthanize him or her unless s/he is suffering and there is no other recourse.
5. I agree to refrain from the use of Hartz products as they have been found to have harmful /fatal effects on pets.
6. I will never use, sell, give or transfer the cat for purposes of research/experimentation, fighting, for consumption or
use in products. I understand that if a transfer of guardianship is necessary the former guardian must be notified.
7. I consent to home visitations by the former guardian as they deem necessary.
8. If the cat is ever lost due to adopter’s negligence, I agree to notify the former guardian the same day the cat is lost. All
necessary steps to find the cat should be taken (e.g. waterproof flyers, scent trailing, internet posts, etc). If the cat is
found, the former guardian reserves the right to reclaim ownership.
9. I agree to relinquish the aforementioned cat to the former guardian if the former guardian in good faith believes that
the cat is not being cared for according to the conditions delineated in this contract.
10. I agree never to bring the cat to a shelter or animal control facility for any reason . Should I need to surrender
the cat in the future, I will contact the former guardian or find a suitable home amongst friends or family. I will not do
this without notifying the former guardian.
11. I understand that having a cat is a privilege and not a right. I understand that a cat is a member of the family who
deserves proper treatment and respect. I understand that if for some reason the cat is not suitable for my household or
vice versa that I can always return the cat.
12. I certify that I am 18 years or older and that I have the consent of the other members of my household to bring
this/these cat(s) into my household.
13. I am taking full fiscal and legal responsibility for the cat(s) from this day forward.
